Emmanuel Ferron

I am a highly skilled sound designer with a unique blend of education and experience. I first honed my passion for audio and music at Fermatta College in Mexico City before further specializing in sound design through my studies at the prestigious Vancouver Film School (VFS).

With over 5 years of industry experience, I've had the privilege to explore a wide array of sound design and audio engineering aspects, enriching my knowledge and skills.

As a sound designer, my ultimate thrill is witnessing the audience leave the theatre, buzzing with excitement and engaged in conversation. My passion lies in the art of transporting the audience into the surreal, making it feel real, and this is what I love most about sound design.

The way I like to achieve this is by painting a vivid picture for the audience beyond the screen. Crafting unique sounds and textures that resonate emotions and spatial dynamics to captivate the audience's imagination, drawing them into a narrative and environment that transcends reality.

My Story

Origin Story.

As a child, I developed a deep fascination for the Star Wars universe, and what etched those movies into my memory was the remarkable sound design. The unique sounds of lightsabers, for instance, made the impossible feel real. Another pivotal moment in my journey into sound design occurred in 2000 during Disney's Fantasia 2000 tour. This unforgettable experience further solidified my passion for sound.

I view sound as a powerful medium for connecting moments with emotions. The ability of sound to evoke feelings and create a profound connection with the audience is what I find most fulfilling in my work. Whether breathing life into a fictional world or recreating historical moments, my role is to provide people with the opportunity to experience, relive emotions, or simply have fun. It's the magic and wonder of this profession that keeps me captivated and inspired.

Case Study.

In my career in the audio industry, I've had the opportunity to work for various companies, and one of my notable experiences was at a dubbing studio in Mexico City. During this time, I served as an ADR mixer and sound editor for an animated series titled 'Arthur and the Minimoys.

One challenge that I crossed with this show was the time management and the coordination with the producer to manage the actors; so they didn’t get fatigued by the requested time of delivery for the show.

To achieve the time requested, it was necessary to record and adjust as much as possible at the moment, also between actors, I used to edit a little bit more; recording clean and tight was another thing that allowed us to deliver on time, it is worth to mention that nothing of this show would’ve been possible without the professionalism and ability of all the team members, the directress was very fast and good taking care of her actors, also the actors were amazing during their recordings.

What started my love for sound?

When I was young in my country they used to play a lot of the Star Wars franchise on open TV and at some point, I fell in love with that world, and what makes me remember a lot of those movies is the sound design, I would've never believed in those lightsabers if the sound weren’t that good. Another big moment that brought me to sound design was in 2000 when Disney had their tour with Fantasia 2000. That experience was amazing and unforgivable for me.
